Neurodivergent Support

Neurodivergence refers to natural variations in how the brain works — including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia. These are not disorders to be fixed, but different ways of experiencing the world.

Our therapists provide neurodiversity-affirming support that recognises your strengths, addresses co-occurring mental health challenges, and helps you thrive as you are.

Our Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

At Mindful UK, we understand that neurodivergent people are often misunderstood by traditional mental health services. Our therapists are trained to work with neurodivergent individuals in a way that respects your unique neurotype, communicates clearly, and avoids pathologising difference.

We also recognise that many neurodivergent people carry the weight of years of masking, undiagnosed struggles, and mental health challenges. Whether you have a formal diagnosis or are self-identified, you are welcome here.

Diagnosis-inclusive

We support both diagnosed and self-identified neurodivergent individuals — no formal label required.

Clear communication

Our therapists communicate directly, avoid jargon, and accommodate different communication styles.

Strengths-focused

We help you identify and build on your neurodivergent strengths alongside managing challenges.

CBT for Neurodivergent Individuals

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective and widely used therapeutic approaches for neurodivergent people. It is recommended by NICE and has been adapted specifically to support conditions such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and dyspraxia — particularly where anxiety, low self-esteem, or depression are also present.

Traditional CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. When adapted for neurodivergent minds, it accounts for differences in executive function, emotional regulation, sensory processing, and information processing — making it more practical, flexible, and effective.

At Mindful UK, our therapists deliver CBT that is tailored to your neurotype. Sessions are structured in a way that works for you — clear, direct, and built around your goals rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Managing anxiety and overwhelm

CBT techniques help identify anxiety triggers and develop practical strategies to reduce overwhelm — particularly useful for autistic individuals and those with ADHD.

Addressing negative self-belief

Many neurodivergent people internalise messages of 'not being good enough'. CBT helps challenge and reframe these beliefs to build lasting self-esteem.

Improving emotional regulation

CBT adapted for ADHD and autism supports the development of skills to manage intense emotions, reduce impulsivity, and build emotional resilience.

Breaking cycles of avoidance

CBT is highly effective at addressing avoidance behaviours — helping neurodivergent individuals re-engage with situations that have become overwhelming.
